Does your website make you want to stick a fork in your eye?

First of all, please don’t.

Secondly… there’s hope for you and your website!

I’m Jon. I build and care for websites so the lovely people and businesses that rely on them can focus on business-y things instead of website-y things.

I quit my first business. My website made me do it (sorta).

When I was in college, I decided to start a website as an outlet for my fitness and nutrition coaching side-hustle. My goal was to demonstrate my expertise via blogging to attract coaching clients. I hired my web developer friend to build a simple, professional website for me.

And everything about that website was wonderful!

Until it wasn’t.

*record screech*

I requested access to the back-end of my website hoping I’d be able to make some edits without having to pay my developer to do it for me. From the moment I logged in, I was painfully aware I was not worthy to touch ANYTHING I saw in there. So I quickly logged out and before I clicked something I wasn’t supposed to.

I might as well have been staring at hieroglyphics. It turned out, the site was built and customized on a platform made for real web developers. Or at least it felt that way to me. And I didn’t have a prayer for figuring out how to edit my website.

I was a broke grad student. And since I didn’t have the funds to pay my developer to upgrade my site and there being zero chance I’d be able to do it myself, I shut the site down.

Then I decided to learn how to recreate my old fitness site on a platform I could actually understand and edit.

After much Googling, YouTubing, and rocking back and forth, I settled on WordPress as my platform of choice. And after a few weeks months of trial and error (lots of trials, lots of errors) and breaking things:

I was able to rebuild my old site. But it only stayed up a few weeks.

*plot twist*

*another record screech*

In the process of learning to build my own WordPress website I became infatuated obsessed with web design and development.

And as I acquired the skills to do the things I wanted to do for my own website, I started dreaming about pivoting my fitness side-hustle into a web design business.

So I became a web designer

I shut down my new fitness site, ditched my coaching business, and started helping local small and medium-sized businesses with their websites, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), sales funnels, and content marketing/ demand generation strategy.

The heart of my web design business is to get you to a place where you run your business – not your website.

I should really put ^that on a t-shirt

Hire a Web Designer (but not just ANY web designer)

You want a beautiful website that’s easy to use. That’s not too much to ask. Unfortunately, when you need website help, it’s waayyyy too easy to hire bad help.

You know what they say…

“Don’t drink soap”.

You know what else they say?

“Hire cheap, hire twice.”

You don’t want to drink soap, obviously.

And you certainly don’t want to have to hire twice or more for your website project <— that’s a no-brainer.
